A hanging sculpture piece from my new exhibition “The Sun is but a Morning Star”made for my new charm series.

This piece takes inspiration from my long term relationship and fascination surrounding the ideas of mementos and keepsakes - how an object can be a reminder of a certain person, time or feeling. All my sculptural wall hangings are emblems of past and current emotions, particularly surrounding love.

The tufted centre acts as a body encompassed by a fragile border that’s both an aura and a cage. Although pieces are missing, they hold strings of memories. The beads signify the fluctuating moments of my relationship, with every large bead placing a break in a happy streak.

The beaded embellishments and chrome acrylic parts are inspired by precious stones and minerals.
